Extrusion Team Lead - Swing Shift

Pries is looking to add an Extrusion Team Lead to our 1st Shift Swing Production Team! If you're a motivated leader who enjoys coaching employees, driving production results, and creating a safe, productive work environment, we'd like to hear from you.

Schedule & Pay

  • 1st Shift: Swing 2-2-3, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Training schedule may vary based on production needs
  • Starting pay: $23.00+ per hour
  • $2.00/hour attendance bonus eligibility each pay period

Position Summary

The Extrusion Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily extrusion production activities, leading a team of operators, and ensuring production, quality, and safety goals are achieved. This role coordinates manpower, materials, and equipment to meet customer demands while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who leads by example, stays organized, makes sound decisions under pressure, and is committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise extrusion production employees to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Review and delegate press schedules to maintain continuous production flow
  • Coordinate die changes, alloy changes, and production setups
  • Ensure materials, tooling, and equipment are available for scheduled production runs
  • Verify operators are following press recipes, procedures, and specifications within EPICS
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and scrap rates while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare and communicate daily production reports
  • Support production by learning and assisting in all extrusion department positions as needed
  • Cross-train team members to improve flexibility and department coverage
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Enforce company safety policies and take immediate corrective action when needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of approximately 5 employees
  • Train, coach, and develop team members
  • Assign daily work and production priorities
  • Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues
  • Recognize strong performance and support corrective actions when necessary
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and productivity

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Technical Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Lead an extrusion press crew
  • Set up and operate extrusion department equipment
  • Understand and follow press practices and production procedures
  • Use precision measuring tools accurately
  • Identify defects and determine material disposition according to company and customer requirements
  • Perform basic maintenance on department equipment
  • Train and mentor employees effectively

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Manufacturing, extrusion, or leadership experience is a plus
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
